Today after eating a big breakfast and cleaning the flat we decided to head out to Portobello Road. And as we were heading there Todd kept gracing us by singing...
"Portobello road, Portobello road
Street where the riches of ages are stowed.
Anything and everything a chap can unload
Is sold off the barrow in Portobello road.
You’ll find what you want in the Portobello road."
Nice. I think the other people on the Tube really appreciated it. Funny how so many of the places we visit here in London bring back childhood memories of movies. Since Todd was singing this all afternoon Tagg asked if we could go home and watch, "Bedknobs and Witch Sticks". I laughed pretty hard at that one.
We ate a darling little Pub close to Notting Hill Gate Tube stop before heading down to Portobello Road. We then walked down to Portobello Road. As we walked I snapped these pictures...
I still walk around looking at the buildings, townhomes, etc and think,
"Wow, I actually live in London."
Pretty sure Jane and Michael are inside tidying up the nursery...
My view while walking down to Portobello Road...love these four cute boys.
I am always the caboose on our outings so I can keep an eye on these hooligans. Tate loves his backpack, it is so great for our little excursions.
We got to Portobello road and the atmosphere there is really so fun, the little shops are so cute, and there are lots of fun things to look at and sample. Street performers are everywhere, and we stopped a lot to listen to them sing. There are little stands with everything and anything. A lot of antiques, silver, teapots, vintage clothes, and food stands.
Here we are! So fun.
Cute little Notting Hill homes...
The boys looking at some comic book artwork.
I have been collecting various items from places that we go to hopefully make a full tea set. We found this cute little stand that sold tea pots, saucers, cups, etc. We looked here for a while and I got the sweetest little teapot and cake dish!
It is pretty crowded, since the full market only runs on Saturday's. We were warned not to bring the buggy, which was good since it would have been crazy trying to navigate and not run over people's feet!
We came to this guy blowing gigantic bubbles and the boys went crazy for them!
Oh hey there hot stuff!
A little down the road we saw people walking around drinking out of whole coconuts and we went to find where they were getting them from. We found the little stand and got a coconut for each of us.
It was cool to watch how the just chopped the heck out of it and put a straw in,
and it was ready to drink!
Tagg trying it out...he thought it was just okay.
Thatcher was disappointed it tasted mostly like water, I think he was suspecting a smoothie. Ha!
There were tons of cute little vegetable and fruit stands.
Lots of old books being sold...
It was such a great afternoon exploring Portobello Road. I got some fun stuff for my tea set, and the boys each got a pocket watch, which they love!
We walked back to the Tube and came home nice and tired! Just how you should feel after a great day exploring!
We ordered Thai food and gathered around my laptop to watch Spider Man, since the boys really want to see the new one, but couldn't remember the first one!
Now it's off to bed...church in the morning and the whole Sunday morning routine to look forward to! Yay! Why are Sunday mornings with getting everyone ready so crazy?
