Today was one of those days that years from now we will look back and say, "Can you believe we were actually in Ireland once?" Yeah...it was that cool.
We woke up and ate and took it easy for the early morning, Todd took the boys to Tesco to get some groceries and then we packed up a lunch and went out to explore the resort and also go for a hike.
Here are the ruins of the Castle in daylight...so cool.
The Mews house we are staying in is in the shadow of the castle ruins, I am slightly obsessed with this old castle.
Here's the house, it's so cute.
Walking outside the ruins to the rest of the resort...
Ahhh, cute brothers!
Taters!
The resort is really so lovely. All the shades of green against the grey sky, just as I have always pictured Ireland. The resort is expansive, with a main hotel and then the little residences that are self-catering, which we are in. There are hiking trails and horses, and lots of fields and gardens. It is breathtaking. Supposedly Kanye and Kim came on their honeymoon here, they stayed in the penthouse suite in the hotel though, with a personal bulter, of course...
Checking out the horses on the property...
Pretty sure this horse is pregnant...
Love this picture...
After we met the horses we went inside the main building of the hotel to check it all out.
While we were inside there was a bride going to get in the limo to go to her wedding. Since I am obsessed with weddings, I decided to be a creeper and take a picture of her on her way out.
The beautiful gardens behind the main part of the hotel.
We got a map of one of the trails that is on the property and set off on a hike...
Passed this house on the outskirts of the hotel property...LOVE.
The start to the trail...
The air was thick today, but it was nice. The smell of all the greenery and the summer air was SO good for us. The boys ran along the hiking path and we were alone the WHOLE time. It was blissful.
We hiked to this part of the path where you go off trail to find some old church ruins, we hiked a bit longer and then found the ruins.
This old church ruin was SO neat. We could see the outside four walls, and inside there were gravestones.
The boys thought this was super cool, and had a great time exploring.
We had a great time exploring and hiking and by the time we got back to the main part of the resort we were tired and hungry.
We stopped and ate our lunch at a picnic table close to our mews house and then the boys sat in these rocks and played with them for like 30 minutes. Ha!
We went inside and got showered and bathed, had dinner, played and rested, and then and put the boys to sleep. Todd and I are now going to enjoy the quiet outside and watch some The Good Wife on Hulu because we are obsessed with that show.
