Day One-Hundred and Twenty-Nine: Hyde Park Lido

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

Today we went with fun friends from our ward to the Hyde Park Lido. I had no idea what "the Lido" was that everyone talked about, but I knew it was the "it" place to go in the summertime with kids.

Well we went, and it is AWESOME. Such a great kid place! It is right on the river in Hyde Park and you pay a few pounds to go in. It is up kinda on a hill and it is all fenced off so the kids can't get out. There is a huge open grassy spot with trees, a playground with a sandpit, and a little wading pool.

The boys had a blast, and the weather was perfect for just sitting outside playing and chatting. Ahhhhh...I've missed these green, cool, relaxing days of summer!

I happened on to this scene with these sweet friends, and snapped this picture...

I cannot tell you how blessed we feel that the boys have such cute friends here!

I also love that all different ages play together and accept each other. Even these big kids are so nice and kind to Taters and follow him around and play with him. He is in heaven with so much attention from these big kids!

My friend Laurel brought water balloons for the kids, and if you thought the British were giving us Americans with the loud kids dirty looks before, you hadn't seen anything yet! We gave them each a few water balloons and they had a great ol' time.

Poor Tate loved his little water balloon so much...

He carried it around for about 10 minutes...

But then shortly after this picture, it burst. He was heartbroken. It was the saddest/sweetest thing ever. He kept giving me the pieces and saying, "please!"...poor kiddo. Broke my heart.

We hurried home from the Lido just in time to order pizza and have the elders over for dinner. I cannot say how much I absolutely love being in a ward with elders and sisters all to ourselves. We have gotten to know each companionship really well and have them over all the time.

They are wonderful and bring such a sweet spirit into our home each time they come. I LOVE the example they are for our boys, and our boys have grown to really love them. They think they are so cool and fun. Thatcher used to have a lot of anxiety about going on a mission. He would always get teary eyed and tell me he didn't want to leave. But since we have moved here and have been having the missionaries over, Thatcher told me that he now is so excited to go on a mission. Yay! But we don't talk about that anymore, I am holding on for dear life to these next nine years before the "m" word.
