Day One-Hundred and Forty-Four: Beautiful London

Wednesday, August 6, 2014

It has been a very hectic day today at home, with lots to do and get done. I had a presidency meeting at the church, and when Todd walked in the door from work, I was running around frantically trying to get the printer to print out the agenda for tonight all while putting on my shoes, kissing the boys goodbye, brushing my teeth, and trying to find my Oyster card so I could get on the Tube.

I met some friends for a quick dinner before my meeting, and then rushed out to the main street to hail a cab. Finally got a cab, got in and settled with a million and a half things running through my brain, and then I looked up and saw this....

I swear sometimes I forget we live in London. I just kinda sat there looking around taking it all in as I was driven to the church...the red buses, the black taxis, the old buildings, the Tube stations, the people, the shops, the parks, the monuments. It was a beautiful summer night and all the stresses of meetings, and primary programs, and grocery shopping, and kids activities, went out of my mind for 10 minutes and I just enjoyed being apart of London.

Sure moving to another country brings changes, and adapting, and challenges and even tears sometimes, but through it all we really love it here. London will forever be apart of our lives and hearts. This experience has changed our family for the better and it has opened our eyes to amazing things. We feel so blessed we have this opportunity.

The kids feel the same way we do, they miss home very much, but also in the same breath talk about how much they love it here. This picture represented that sentiment to me...Thatcher has painted two flags, Texas and the Union Jack. So sweet.

Oh, and you can blame Texas brainwashing for him painting a Texas flag instead of the Stars and Stripes. "Honor the Texas Flag"...these boys are loyal Texas boys through and through, let me tell ya!
