Day Twenty: Mi Piace

Friday, April 4, 2014

After taking the boys to school in the morning, Tate and I came home and had a lazy day.  We played on the floor in the playroom for a little over an hour.  He is so funny and does the funniest things.  I pretty much just laugh at him all day long.  Tate is our latest walker.  Thatcher walked at before a year and Tagg was at just about a year old.  Tate is taking his sweet time.  If it's anything indicative or personality, I could agree with that analysis of the boys.  So this morning in the playroom we were practicing our walking skills.  He's getting good, he's just a little chicken.  A super cute chicken though.

Tate took a long nap and I ordered some thai food take out and spent the afternoon researching Ireland, Scotland, and the Cotswolds.  Excited for some family trips and adventures!

On the way to grab the boys from school I saw this...

An old double decker just waiting at the light.  So fun.  I still love seeing the double decker buses and telephone booths and red post boxes.  Every time I do I hear in my head, "London, baby!" by Joey.

Thatcher is learning some Italian at school.  He says he thinks that it is so easy for him to learn because his mom and dad know it and somehow passed it down to him.  I laughed pretty hard when he told me this.  I have news for him.  Any language expertise or ease of learning came solely from one parent of his. And that parent is not me.  It is really cute hearing him try to speak and say some words.  Today he learned "mi piace" which literally means, "to me, it pleases" or how the Italians say, "I like...".  He was going around saying "mi piace gelato"..."mi piace computer" etc.  It's really cute and fun for us to hear and see.

These pink blossom trees in front of our complex just keep getting more and more pink and full every day.  I love it!

Even the grey days here are pretty with all the bright, beautiful flowers blooming contrasted by all the green.  I am serious when I say I think Texas prepared me to live here.  Before moving to Texas, I hated the rain and grey days.  But after having lived in Texas with A LOT of sunny days over and over and over again, you get excited for some "weather".  I actually really like how the days here will start off sunny, then it will grey over and rain for a bit, and then the sun will come back out.  Hooray for weather!

After school we did the afternoon/night routine of homework, spelling words, dinner prep, and playing peek-a -boo with the Taters.

Tonight at dinner Thatcher was telling us all that they are learning in school about World War II.  For a field trip the other day they went to a Jewish Museum and were learning about the Jews during World War II.  We had a long talk about World War II and how it started, and how it all went down and the US and UK's part in all of it and how they were alliances etc.  The boys are at a fun age where they are very inquisitive about all of this and were asking some pretty cool questions.  Thatcher has a project coming up on Winston Churchill, which I think is totally awesome.  I mean who wouldn't want to study World War II and Winston Churchill while living in London!  Lucky duck!  Okay, maybe I am just a nerd.
